| Unsubscribe
From (Leave) A List |
When
you click on "Leave" from the "List Menu",
you are telling the ListServer that you want to unsubscribe
from the list. Do NOT use this option
to simply exit the list website. If you want to
exit the list website to go back to the IIMHL website, click on the
IIMHL logo at the top of the list website page.
If
you click on "Leave", you will be unsubscribed
from the list, and will not get any more list messages. You will
also need to rejoin (or resubscribe) to the list if you wish to
continue participating in the discussion list.

You
can use the "Search" utility by typing in a
keyword or phrase in the text box provided. If you use the "Search"
utility, either from the "List Menu" or from
within "Read Messages", you will see something
like this:

The
ListServer displays messages in its archives in default
increments. The message(s) that you're looking for may not fall
within these parameters, so it may be necessary to change these
values to increase your Search scope. You can do this by
clicking on the pull-down arrow, and selecting the increment value
you wish to use.
The
ListServer will tell you that "Messages are available from
{date} to {date}", and the ListServer is displaying
"These messages are from {date} to {date}".
The
"Jump Backward" and "Jump Forward"
increment defaults to 200. This can be decreased to 5 or increased
to 5000. Using this function will take you either Forward
or Backward in the message archives whatever number of
messages for which you have set this value.
In
addition to being able to sort by "Author",
"Date", or "Subject", you can
also jump to a particular "Date" if you know the
approximate time frame that a previous message was sent.
You
may need to increase the default increment in the "Number
of messages" being shown. By default, the ListServer will
show a maximum of 200 messages at a time. This increment can be
increased to 500.
Top
If
you click on the "Create a New Message" button
from the "List Menu", you will go to a simple
message entry form. In this form, you can type your message "Subject"
in the Subject text box, and then type in your message in
the Body text box. When you're ready to send, click on
"Send Message Now".
Why
Create A Message This Way?
You
can use this form to send a message directly from the ListServer,
rather than going through the email software on your computer.
This is similar to using web-based email like Yahoo, Hotmail,
etc. Sending messages directly from the server can help you get
around some problems that you might be experiencing, such as
validation between your computer and the ListServer, or you can
use this to send messages to the ListServer from someone else's
computer (perhaps if you're on a trip, etc.).
