Notes: The Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists (PRCP) Scientific Meeting will be the major international meeting of psychiatrists in Australia and the Asia-Pacific in 2010. The theme is 'Advancing together in Psychiatric Treatment, Research and Education' and some 500 participants are expected to attend this meeting to be held at the Brisbane Convention Centre. The conference is endorsed by the The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the World Psychiatric Association. The meeting brings together leading mental health practitioners in the fields of clinical work (psychiatrists, general practitioners, mental health nurses, and psychologists), academic psychiatry, and public and private mental health services from the west coasts of North America and South America to East Asia and South-East Asia and Oceania. The Scientific Meeting will feature distinguished international opinion leaders in clinical psychiatry and service delivery areas of mental health. Senior academic clinicians and researchers from Australia, New Zealand and the member countries of the PRCP will conduct symposium and workshop sessions covering best practice patient care, treatment updates in the psychoses, mood disorders, anxiety conditions, organic mental disorders, and addiction disorders for the clinical populations of children, adolescents, adults and older individuals. A free paper stream will offer participants the opportunity to present latest research and topics of interest. Brisbane is a wonderful host city with a wide range of accommodation types, fine dining restaurants, and an impressive new Convention and Conference Centre venue. Brisbane is closely located to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coasts, both areas noted for their beautiful beaches, excellent golf courses, entertainment theme parks and hinterland mountain bushwalking and sightseeing experiences. The Brisbane springtime weather in October is perfect and the timing is just before the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. We hope you can join us at the PRCP Scientific Meeting in late October 2010.
